Worship With Us

Come and see.

Our worship follows the Book of Common Prayer, offered with reverence, sacred music, and preaching rooted in Scripture. Whether you’re looking for a church home, visiting Louisville for the weekend, or just beginning to explore your faith, you are welcome here. If liturgical worship is new to you, we’ll help you find your way.

Sunday Worship

Every Sunday service is a celebration of Holy Communion, the center of Christian worship since the earliest days of the Church. Our services differ in music, language, and setting, so there’s a service to suit every season of life.

8:00 a.m. Holy Communion. A quiet, spoken service in traditional English, held in the intimate Davenport Chapel. It’s a peaceful, prayerful way to begin the Lord’s Day.

9:00 a.m. Holy Communion with Choir. A sung service in contemporary English. Children are invited to Children’s Chapel during the sermon, where they hear God’s Word in a way made just for them. They then rejoin their families for Communion.

10:15 a.m. Sunday School. Formation for every age, from our youngest children to adults.

11:15 a.m. Holy Communion with Choir. A sung service in traditional English, offering the full beauty of our sacred music tradition. Children are invited to Children’s Chapel during the sermon before rejoining their families for Communion.

5:00 p.m. Holy Communion. A simpler, more casual, evening Eucharist in the Davenport Chapel, with music drawn from a range of styles.

Daily Offices

Since the earliest centuries, Christians have marked each day with prayer. Monday through Thursday, we pray Morning and Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer in the Davenport Chapel. These simple, spoken services include psalms, readings that carry us through Scripture over time, and prayers for our parish community. All are welcome, whether you come once or make it part of your daily rhythm.

8:00 a.m. Morning Prayer

5:00 p.m. Evening Prayer

Spoken services, with no music or Communion.

Sacraments and Life Events

The Church walks with us through every season of life. In the sacraments and rites of the Book of Common Prayer, the great moments of our lives are drawn into the life of Christ and celebrated by the whole community of faith. They are not private ceremonies but holy encounters, and the people of St. Francis are called to share them with you.

Baptism

The Prayerbook tells us that Holy Baptism is "full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body the Church," and we take those words seriously. Baptism is the sacred threshold through which a person enters the Body of Christ. It is an invitation to die with Christ and rise with him again.

Because baptism carries this weight, we ask all who seek it, for themselves or for their children, to enter a season of preparation with the clergy and people of St. Francis. For adults, this preparation takes place through the Adult Catechumenate, our formation process for those making a sacramental commitment to Christ. For families presenting a child, it includes baptism preparation classes and an ongoing commitment to the worshiping life of the parish.

The promises made in baptism are made by the whole congregation alongside the candidate. Baptism belongs to the community of faith that will walk with you for a lifetime. For that reason, all baptisms at St. Francis take place during Sunday worship or on major feasts, when the whole parish gathers to welcome the newly baptized into the household of God. Regular participation in parish worship is part of that shared commitment.

Baptism Dates

We celebrate baptism on the days the Church sets apart as especially fitting for this sacrament. Upcoming dates:

2026

  • November 1, 9:00 or 11:15 a.m. — All Saints’ Sunday

2027

  • January 10, 9:00 or 11:15 a.m. — Baptism of Our Lord
  • March 27, 8:00 p.m. — The Great Vigil of Easter
  • May 16, 10:00 a.m. — Pentecost
  • August 22, 9:00 or 11:15 a.m.
  • November 7, 9:00 or 11:15 a.m. — Feast of All Saints

Because preparation takes time, we encourage you to begin the conversation well before your preferred date.

If you're exploring baptism for yourself or your child, we'd love to hear from you. Fill out the inquiry form, and a member of the clergy will be in touch. You may also contact Mthr. Barbara White with questions.

Weddings

Christian marriage is a solemn covenant between a man and a woman, made in the presence of God and the gathered Christian community. We are delighted to celebrate weddings for members of St. Francis and their children. If you are new to the parish, or you're seeking a place to be married and a church home at the same time, we'd love to talk with you.

All weddings at St. Francis are officiated by our clergy using the marriage liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer.

To begin: review our Wedding Policies and Guidelines, complete the Wedding Information Form, and then contact us to set a date.

Funerals

If a loved one has died, please call the parish office at (502) 228-1176. Our clergy will be with you and guide you through each step.

The Burial of the Dead is a solemn service, yet it is also an Easter liturgy. Even as we grieve those we love but see no longer, we proclaim that death cannot overcome the power of Christ's resurrection.

When you're ready to begin planning, our Funeral Customary and Funeral Planning Guide will help you and your family prepare a service that honors your loved one and proclaims the hope of the Gospel. Many people also find it a gift to their families to plan their own funeral in advance.
